Animal’s architecture

In this exclusive talk animal will share the struggle for land in the contemporary city, her battle to build informal architecture and how this has been continuously destroyed by the society around her.

Animal has been living precariously for several years after coming to see the Patch of Grass exhibition, which talks about the need for community land, she became an immediate collaborator. Contributing to the dialogue by pitching her tent on the patch and deciding to live there to exemplify the struggle she faces. The patch talks about the privatisation of the commons and the bundle of rights that comes with land ownership or stewardship by putting a patch of grass on wheels. Exemplifying the absurdity of the ownership system as it is.

This incredible and welcome new collaboration show cases the hard edge of the stuggle for identity and the right to the city facilitated in by the potential of this social art to act as a medium for societal transformation.

Join us on Friday as we curate the artwork ready to listen to animals story.
